Since its founding in 1998, New London Main Street has been funded primarily by contributions from individuals, local and regional businesses, local and state government, and grants from local, regional, and statewide philanthropic organizations. Much of this financial support is designated as sponsorships for specific programs and events or what we call partnerships, which help cover overhead costs. All have helped us build our program and have contributed to our ability to conduct the services we provide. We are very grateful for this support.

Our 2012 banner, shown right, celebrates New London's rich maritime history and New London as a port of call for OpSail 2012. Operation Sail or OpSail for short, has planned bicentennial celebrations in 2012 to commemorate The War of 1812 and the "Star-Spangled Banner". New London joins New York City, Boston, Norfolk, Baltimore, New Orleans, Annapolis and more as being a port of the event, which will feature a grand international fleet of tall ships and warships.
